State funded programs to assist you in job search/career advancement

Dear friends and neighbors, As you may know, the Federal unemployment assistance programs ended last week. If you or someone you know is looking for a job or a career advancement, here are three programs that are administered by The Workplace, which serves as the workforce development board for Southwestern Connecticut. These programs are funded by state and federal grants and are great resources for residents of Connecticut. Platform to Employment (P2E): P2E is a program for Connecticut residents who have exhausted their unemployment benefits.P2E participants start with a preparatory class that addresses the social, emotional, and skill deficiencies caused by long-term unemployment. Participants are then matched with open positions at local companies on a trial basis with their salaries funded by The WorkPlace. This is a paid opportunity for P2E participants to demonstrate they can do the job while employers evaluate their work. Here is a testimonial video (you may get a short advt.) which shows the effectiveness of this program. You can apply for the P2E program by clicking HERE. Health care Academy (HCA): The Southwestern Connecticut Health CareeRx Academy provides tuition assistance and support to help participants obtain a career in the growing healthcare field. The HCA provides occupational training, work readiness, and other supports to individuals who desire to begin or advance a career in healthcare - occupations like dental assistant, radiologic technologist, or respiratory therapist. You can review the Flyer HERE and detailed FAQ HERE. To sign up for an information session, please get in touch with Tim DeMarco at 203-930-1637 or email general@healthcareeracademy.org Engage Staffing: Engage Staffing provides career guidance, resume counseling, interview assistance and matches local talent with businesses. Engage Staffing invests a significant amount of time to learn about your strengths, accomplishments, and goals for the future. They focus resources to connect you with a company where you can grow professionally in an environment that you enjoy. You can submit your resume to Engage Staffing by clicking HERE. You can reach them on 203-610-8572 or email them on mmorgan@wpvengagestaffing.com. The job market is strong, and these programs can help get the proper training and find a suitable job opportunity.
