Special Election Background
On June 22, 2021, Sen. Alex Kasser resigned from her senate seat. The Governor announced a special election will be held on August 17th, 2021 to fill that vacancy. The 36th Senate district comprises all of Greenwich, and parts of Stamford and New Canaan.
Each party will elect its candidate through a party convention. The Republican convention will be held on Saturday, July 10th at 10AM. There are 31 delegates who will be voting to elect the Republican candidate - these delegates were chosen by the Republican party in spring 2020 to select the candidate for the November 2020 election.
Including myself, there are a total of 3 Republican candidates who are running to get the nomination at the convention on July 10th. The other two candidates are Ryan Fazio who ran for this seat in November 2020 and Leora Levy. It is important we elect the best candidate for this seat - in terms of experience, leadership skills, and most importantly, electability. I am the only candidate in this race who has legislative experience and a demonstrated track record of public service and advocacy. Polls also show compellingly that I am the best positioned to win this race. Your endorsement is necessary to convince these delegates that I am the right candidate to get on the ballot and win.
General Election - Special Election
The Special Election will be held on Tuesday, August 17th. The winner will be your next State Senator and serve until November 2022.
