Harry Arora, Former State Rep, Forms Exploratory Committee for Governor's Race

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 1/13/2026

Today, Harry Arora, former State Representative and the 2022 Republican nominee for State Treasurer, officially filed paperwork to form an exploratory committee for the Office of Governor. Arora enters the field as a uniquely proven statewide leader. Arora was the highest Republican vote getter in the last gubernatorial cycle, demonstrating broad appeal across the state. Receiving over 559,000 votes, Arora outperformed every other Republican candidate on the statewide ballot, including those for Governor, U.S. Senate, and all other constitutional offices.

"I'm exploring this run because Connecticut is at a crossroads," Arora said. "Our state has drifted away from the principles that made it prosperous: free enterprise, limited and efficient government, and focus on opportunity. We have to bring down the cost of energy and healthcare, address the housing shortage, and attract high-paying jobs. We can get it done by unleashing free-market forces and attracting capital, rather than creating mandates or forcing towns to urbanize. Our schools need to focus on math, science, literacy, and critical thinking, encourage parental voice, and our colleges need to prepare graduates for jobs of the 21st century.”

Arora continued, "Our campaign in 2022 proved that a message focused on our values of freedom, responsibility, and accountability resonates deeply with residents in all 169 towns," Arora said. "I am proud of the broad, statewide coalition we built, and I look forward to continuing that conversation with the people of Connecticut."

Arora will discuss his “Vision for Connecticut’s New Golden Age” across the state while listening to residents about the challenges they face and how to make Connecticut a destination for capital and talent. Harry Arora is an accomplished investment manager and business leader who founded his own firm in Connecticut. After a 20-year career in investing, he served as State Representative for the 151st District (Greenwich). He currently serves on the State Investment Advisory Council, overseeing Connecticut's pension assets. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (MBA) and the Harvard Kennedy School (MPA), Harry lives in Greenwich with his wife, Nisha, and their three children. Arora will participate in Connecticut's Citizens' Election Program. For more information, visit harryforct.com.
